Sometimes many Vista users detect the fact that their Vista is not compatible with the programs that they want to run on their system though these were running quite well in their Windows XP. If this is the case with you can install Windows XP no matter even if you have Windows preinstalled on your system. Even if your computer is packaged up with Windows Vista then also you can make the platform for XP operating system. What you will need to is to create a double boot system so that you can avail both operating system. If this is the first time you are going to install the operating system you can follow these computer repair tips to create the double boot.

But before you go on with installing XP on your system computer repair experts suggest you to consult the manufacturer’s manual to see the warranty conditions and system compatibility. You need to check these because some hardware does not support this dual system.

If you want to create a dual boot system you will need to have additional partition on your computer hard drive. For setting this, you will need to go to ‘my computer’. Then you need to go to ‘manage’ and need to right click on it. You will be in the ‘disk management’ section now. Now you will be able to see an image which shows the primary hard drive and the partitions. The part on the partition that you wish to modify will be needed to be clicked on. You will have to select the option Shrink Volume. Now it is time to create the second partition where you will install the XP.

You can then change the drive letter suggested the computer repair guys. They suggest changing the drive letters so that data can be organized in a more convenient way. Now you can create the new partition. For this you will need to go to the primary partition area where you have already shrunk the place. On the primary partition black space will be seen and you need to right click on it. You need to choose the ‘new simple volume’ option and a Windows wizard will open. This window will instruct you on creating partition. Follow these instructions to create the partition.

After you have completed with the partition you need to restart your PC to make sure all the changes are saved within the Vista operating system.

Now you can install Windows XP to your system. For this computer repair experts suggest you to insert the XP CD or DVD and restart the PC once again. Boot from the XP CD or DVD and follow the entire prompt that comes up. Install all the necessary drivers the system requires. Now it is time to restart the computer. But when you reboot the system it will not recognize the boot menu and the option to which operating system to load and it will boot with the newly created XP. So this is time you will need to add dual boot system.

To make Vista bootable you will need to reinstall the Vista. You will need to insert the Vista DVD to the DVD driver and select the option ‘repair your computer’. It will make the system search for any OS and it will get Vista OS. Next the window system recovery option will come. You will need to select ‘startup’ repair’ option. Click next and give it time to fix any issues. When it is done, you will need to close the window and press finish. It will make the PC reboot with Vista.

Now you will have to create a menu system so that you can choose the operating system you want to use. You can do it by manual configuration or by software. Software like EasyBCD and VistaBootPro can do it within seconds.
